Master classes on improvisation. Talk on “Improvisation, Creativity, and Consciousness” at the School of Music. “Improvisation, Creativity, and Negotiation” at the UI Law School. Performance of five compositions of mine by UI Jazz Ensemble; I am also guest soloist.
February, 2005. Performances with University of Michigan Creative Arts Orchestra, under my direction, on tour with saxophonist/composer Oliver Lake. I was featured soloist on two of Lake’s compositions.
Nov, 2004. Krakow, Poland. Concert with renowned Polish jazz artist, pianist Wojiech Konikiewicz at Krakow Jazz Club.
October, 2003. London Jazz Orchestra, Vortex Theatre, London, England. Performance of six of my compositions; I was guest soloist on three works.
June, 2002. Helsinki, Finland. Performance at International Association of Schools of Jazz conference with international jazz group. Gleen Ferris, trombone, John Rapson, Michel Kuttner drums.
Oct, 2001 London Jazz Orchestra. London, England. I directed the group in performances of two of my compositions, Shirodara and Space Race. I also performed with the ensemble.
Nov, 2001. Performance of my compositions by London Jazz Orchestra, London, UK Vortex Theatre.
Nov, 2001. London Improvisers Orchestra, Red Rose Theatre, London, England. I performed with the LIO and directed them using techniques I have evolved in our own Creative Arts Orchestra.
October 5, 2001. Ann Arbor. Edgefest, Kerrytown Concert House. Ed Sarath and Timescape. I led this 8 member ensemble (2 vlns, vlc, flugelhorn, saxophone, piano, bass and drums) through a set of new compositions.
Oct, 2001. Teaching and performances at the Guildhall School. London. I did master classes in jazz composition, and I directed the Guildhall Jazz Ensemble in performances of two of my compositions: Rites of Passage and Partly Dancing, Partly Dreaming. I performed with the Scott Stroman Quintet and the SunDial hall, playing standard repertory and orginal compositions of mine for small jazz ensemble: Solidarity, Old Age, and As Is.
June 2001. Boston, Mass. International Association of Schools of Jazz annual conference. I performed with an ensemble of international artists. I also coordinated the daily meetings of representatives (approx. 35) from the various participating schools. This entailed choosing the discussion topics and moderating the dialogue.
Feb. 2001. tour with Facing East, Indian music-jazz fusion group led by flute virtuoso John Wubbenhorst This tour featured Ganesh Komar, kanjira player from Calcutta who was in U.S. on a Fulbright, as guest artist. Performances in Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, and Grand Rapids.
June, 2000. Performance and teaching at La Villette Jazz Festival, Paris, France. With international ensemble featuring leading bassist Ronan Guilfoyle from Dublin, Michel Kuttner from Cologne, and saxophonist Claudio Fassioli from Milan.
June 2000. Performance at Orleans Jazz Festival, Orleans, France. With Cache Cache, former winners ofRadio France Jazz Competition, along with Finnish Saxophone Quartet, Saxperiment. Nov. 1999. Campinas, Tatui, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Performance and recording for CD release of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, for choir, string orchestra and jazz quartet at Campinas Conservatory. Master classes and performances at Tatui Conservatory, performances and CD release of three compositions for Jazz Orchestra: Thought Forms, River Song, and Shirodara.

Oct, 2001 London. Keynote presentation at Scientific and Medical Network "Exploring Creativity" event. The SMN is a worldwide organization dedicated to bridging mainstream and frontier developments in the sciences, medicine and other areas of knowledge. I was the main invited speaker at this event, one of whose purposes was to initiate the formation of a creativity group within the SMN. My talk was entitled, "Improvisation, Creativity and Flow".
